Public Bus/Ferry Service Status

Information: The Queens Baton Relay will be visiting Devonport, stopping off at the Bluff, St Brendan Shaw, Nixon St Primary, Devonport High, & Devonport Mall.
Info: The 2018 Commonwealth Games Queen’s Baton Relay will be travelling through Devonport on Wednesday, 7 February 2018.

The relay will start at the Bluff at 1.40pm and will travel along William Street, James Street, Sorell Street, Parker Street, Nixon Street and Best Street, completing its journey at the Rooke Street Mall at 3.06pm.


Road closures will be in place impacting traffic between 1.30 and 3.30pm.Please avoid the relay route during this time where possible. Traffic will be held as the convoy approaches and the road will reopen once the convoy has passed, it is anticipated that you will be delayed a maximum 15 minutes.

In particular being the first day back to school for some traffic around St Brendan Shaw College, Nixon Street Primary and Devonport High School, will be impacted. If possible please park outside of the road closure area and walk to your destination.

Traffic will be managed by Altus Traffic Management, Council and Tasmania Police, please exercise patience if you are delayed and always follow the direction of police and traffic controllers.

Disruptions to public transport will be kept to a minimum however there may be short delays in buses reaching their destination which may also impact connecting services.

We encourage you to line the relay route and celebrate the upcoming Commonwealth games and the efforts of the 27 baton bearers who will carry the baton in Devonport.
