Merseylink is following all guidelines set by the Tasmanian Department of Health. It is our number one priority to ensure the health and safety of all passengers and staff.

What you can do

Reduce travel within peak hours
All Merseylink services are operating as usual, this means if you can choose your travel time, we suggest you avoid peak traffic periods. Your journey won’t be interrupted by excess traffic and you will have more space on board.

Get a Smartcard
Free travel has been extended to July 5, 2020, however, be prepared for when fares return by getting your Smartcard here. By using a Smartcard you can board easier and faster while enjoying the 20% discount on all fares.

Continue practicing good hygiene 

  • Spread out onboard and while at bus stops where possible.
  • Cough or sneeze into the bend of your elbow or a tissue.
  • Avoid touching your face as much as possible and wash your hands for 20 seconds with soapy water, or hand sanitiser before and after you travel.
  • Stay home if you are feeling unwell.

What we’re doing

Enhanced sanitation
We have enhanced our cleaning routine on all buses, to ensure a thorough deep clean. We take special care with making certain all surfaces touched more regularly like handrails and stop buttons are thoroughly cleaned.

Encouraging social distancing
The seat directly behind our driver has been sectioned off for their safety. Although buses are not limited to the 1.5m rule, we still recommend passengers find a seat away from others to ensure their own safety.
