Further to previous information provided to you regarding the cessation of school bus services formerly provided by K&D Sims & Sons Pty Ltd (Sims), please be advised that the Department of State Growth (State Growth) has contracted Mersey Bus & Coach Pty Ltd (Merseylink) as the new operator of these services from Monday 2 September 2019 until the end of the school year.
The new services will involve some minor changes to some bus routes, bus stops and timetables.
The bus route which operates between Kindred and Ulverstone (contract 1421) will be merged with the existing Merseylink service (contract 1784) which travels between Devonport and Ulverstone (via Forth). No students have travelled on the section of the route between Kindred and Forth for some time and so discontinuation of this section should have no impact on families.
The service between Nietta and Ulverstone (contract 1425) will now commence at Sprent in the mornings. Students travelling between Nietta and Sprent will need to use the Merseylink bus between South Nietta and Devonport (contract NR-599) and then interchange on to contract 1425 at Sprent in the morning. Contract 1425 will continue to travel direct to Nietta in the afternoons.
Please find attached updated route maps and timetables which will be in effect from 2 September 2019. State Growth is seeking your assistance to disseminate these along with the message on the following page through your usual communication channels (e.g. newsletter / Facebook / Twitter). Schools and families are strongly encouraged to review this information to ascertain whether any of the changes will affect them before they are implemented next week.
State Growth understands there will be a settling in period as the new operator takes over and the changes are rolled out. Feedback is welcomed from the school community which may be forwarded to State Growth by email at firstname.lastname@example.org or by phone on 6166 3343 (between 9:00am and 5:00pm weekdays).
Merseylink is contracted by State Growth to provide school and public bus services elsewhere in Tasmania. The company transports students to and from schools in the north and north-west coast of the state.
General enquiries regarding timetables or interchanges should be forwarded to Merseylink in the first instance on 6427 7626 or email email@example.com.
